REALTORS Care®

Social responsibility and community involvement are very important facets to the workings of CREB®. We are an industry that has seen exceptional success, an industry that is fortunate to have members who have an inherent sense of duty towards community volunteerism and charitable spirit.

It is a privilege for the board to give back to the community in which it works, but to also give back to the community that has given to us the opportunity to enjoy some major successes.

Our primary contributions to the community come through the good works of our Charitable Foundation. Formed in 1987 by the board's Civic Affairs Committee, the foundation is a means by which our members can give back to the community in which they live and work.

From 2004 to 2007 the foundations' board of governors changed the direction of the fund distribution to focus on a single project, The Crestwood Affordable Housing Development in the Millican–Ogden Community.

This particular project involved all three levels of government and the CREB® Charitable Foundation. Through the foundation, industry members raised over $1.5 million towards the construction of this 60-unit complex for low-income working Calgarians.

The foundation's vision is to build a shelter-related legacy to meet the needs of greater Calgary's residents, needs that are not met through the conventional housing market. The foundation is able to accomplish this vision through its $2 million endowment fund, as well as some special and annual events such as:

  • The Annual Building Hope Charity Golf Tournament
  • Calgary Home Shows
  • AGLC-GAIN 2-day Casino
